Bathroom- Day 5

It is still going slow here, but as you can see we do have a bathtub in place and the sink has been installed.  The sink will be working by tonight and hopefully the shower surround will be brought and installed tomorrow!  The job isn't done when the plumbers are done though.  We'll still need to do some tile work, sheetrock, replace the medicine cabinet, painting, etc...  So, I'm not sure when all that will get done.  Since we'll be doing some of it ourselves it will take time. I'm trying to be patient and enjoy the process.  I'm thankful that we're even able to start this job and I do enjoy seeing the slow transformation.  I'm also thankful for friends that are flexible and willing to help us out during this process.  I've showered at 2 different people's houses this week and last night I took the kids over to someone's house for a much-needed bath.  It had been a whole week since they had a bath!  I enjoyed scrubbing them and they wanted to stay and play in the tub forever.  My washing machine has also been out of commission for 5 days.  I was also able to do a load of laundry last night.

The countertops are in!

Since we went to our church's musicale last night we had this evening at home. Our plan was to finally sit down and work on the christmas cards and make more peanut butter balls. The kids took great naps today and so I did also (this was much needed since I was up WAY too late last night getting all the goodies together for the the S.S. teachers)! Well, when I woke up Jason told me he'd gotten a message from Menards that the countertops we'd ordered last week were in. We weren't expecting them until after Christmas. So, our plans changed and we spent the next 7 hours ripping out the old stuff and putting in the new! I say "we" like I helped. :) I mostly just provided moral support for my hero and handyman, Jason.

This shows the old countertop and sink ripped out and the new countertop getting ready to go on.
The kids got to eat corndogs in the living room and watch Christmas movies (like 3 of them!). They were loving it.
Here's the new sink. I'm so excited!
And here's just a sneak peak of the new! We did finish tonight, but it's so late and I'll have to post the finished product another time, so check back later!

Anxious!

This is my lovely stove! I say "lovely" w/out a sarcastic tone. Only the back 2 burners work, but hey... I'm not complaining! Isn't the copper back splash great? Below are our double wall mounted ovens. Take a good look because on Tuesday morning they're leaving! These pictures were taken before we moved in. We painted the cabinets green. I'll have to post an "after" picture. I really like this double wall mounted oven, but some ladies in our church family were really sneaky and took up a collection for us to have our kitchen appliances replaced. They have been deemed "unsafe". What a HUGE blessing and a really great surprise! I was able to go pick out what I wanted and my new glass- top- range, microwave, and DISHWASHER are going to be delivered and installed on Tuesday morning! I can't wait. I really will miss the copper tiles though. :( I chose to replace the stove top with a free standing range and the wall oven section will be replaced with lower cabinets and countertop! The pic below shows the only counter space in the kitchen. We'll be replacing this section of countertop since the dishwasher will be added on the right of the sink and will need to be framed in. We've picked out a black speckled laminate countertop that sort of mocks granite to go with the all white appliances and hopefully someday my dream black and white checkered floor! I think we'll also be replacing the kitchen sink with stainless steel.
