weekend weariness

We've been planning a yard sale at our house for about the last 6 months.  I have one every year.  This year I decided not to involve too many people.  Amy and I have enough junk between the two of us!  Looking at our calendar and choosing a date for the 3 day event (these people here in Minnesota are crazy about their yard sales!) has been challenging.  We finally decided that this past weekend was the best option for us.  There were a few things planned in the evenings, but there just wasn't a totally free weekend before school starts!  Thursday morning we set up and enjoyed a nice day.  The kids had their lemonade stand and guilted many shoppers into buying their product.  Jonas had a table full of toys set up with everything labeled and organized so neatly. I've taught him well! :)  We closed down early (around 4:30) to rush off to our annual pastoral staff picnic at a local park.  We had a really great evening with our friends in ministry and connected well with the newest staff members.  We were home around 8:30 with kids in bed shorty after.  On Friday we opened the yard sale but Amy ended up working by herself for most of the morning  because Jonas woke up with an abscessed tooth!  Unbelievable... my SEVEN year old has an abscessed tooth!  I spent the morning calling around for a dentist appointment, having him seen, and filling a prescription.  Tomorrow we go to an oral surgeon for a consultation.  Friday around 5 we closed down the yard sale and rushed around getting ready and going to a youth activity- a giant game of CLUE around the city.  It was a blast- bust exhausting!  We were home around 10 from that.  On Saturday we finished up with our sale around 4ish.  The day ended with Jason rolling his right ankle.  We recently had to cut down the tree in our front yard because it had dutch elm disease. sniff. sniff. (we loved that tree).  Jason was chopping/ sawing wood for hours on Saturday and when he yelled and dropped to the ground while holding a chainsaw in his hand I immediately thought the worst! Praise the Lord that he had only tripped in a hole and sprained an ankle!  So, as if he weren't limping enough already he really limped on Sunday.  We went to church Sunday morning for Jason to teach his class and then came home for Jason to get off that ankle (per his very experienced nurses' orders- ME!)  On Sunday afternoon both Ella and Kate had a sudden fever and took 3 hour naps (unusual!).  Neither of them ate very much and they were very lethargic.  Between tylenol and antibiotics and preaching the r.i.c.e method to Jason- oh, and nursing the baby- I felt like "dr. mom" for sure!  The girls have some sort of virus.  They are already feeling much better.  Jason is at work today (although he cannot drive) and Jonas is not in any visible pain (expect for the side effects of antibiotics- no fun).  We had quite an interesting weekend!  I didn't plan any of this.  I never want to know the future.  I'm resting in the fact that my Lord does know and not only does He know, He ordained it!  I'm good with that.

Oh my! I'm with you on not wanting to know what lies in the future but trusting God to know what is best. He is always so good to provide the strength we need to get through circumstances like these. I hope everyone in your family is on the mend & I hope the yard sale was successful!
