Sewing Area

Tada... here is "my" space! Our basement is unfinished (as you can see by the ceiling and little light bulb hanging down!), but I'm trying hard to make it livable. I painted the paneling on the walls, pieced together all kinds of rugs for the floor, and just keep killing the spiders! That doorway leads to the really "dungeony" part of the basement that's all cement. That's just one of my many piles of laundery you see on the floor!

She'll be sewing with mamma in no time at all! This is exactly what I used to do with my mom. I would sit beside her sewing machine (which was in the living room of our trailer) and stitch little pictures and buttons onto scraps of fabric.
This thing that my ribbon sits in was an awesome find at the JUNK MARKET. It was only 25 cents. It's a wood frame for sewing machine drawers. The buttons are from the Buffalo Nickel.
These old coke crates (yard sale finds) work perfect for storing my baby food jars full of odds and ends. The sewing machine desk is in poor shape. I got it at a thrift store a few years ago. I thought it was an aweful color, but it's really growing on me!

love it!! you did a fabulous job on making a great little corner in your basement! (i know what spider filled basements are like!!)
OK, maybe the desk wouldn't be my first choice of color either, BUT it is very energetic & completely matches your sew. machine!!! I think it looks great!
what a great thing to pass on your creativity and skill to sew!!! wish I had more of that.
also, what did you use to cover your baby food jars lids with? they look awesome; love the coke bins on the wall!!! I always learn so much from your decorating posts!!! keep posting...

Erin, I haven't forgot your paint sample request! I just cut some old fabric in circles and decoupaged them on --well, my own mix of Elmer's glue and water. It hardens up just like deoupage.

Your house must be absolutely adorable if you are even decorating the little "sewing corner" in the basement!!! Looks like you've made your lovely little house into a beautiful HOME!!! Wonderful ideas and thanks for passing them along! Have you been able to do any sewing lately? Would love to see more pictures of your awesome quilts! I really would like to try to make one of those myself, maybe someday!

Looks great Beth! What happened to the peg board idea? I did see some peg board in your garage the other day. . .did it not work in the basement?

Oh, Meg the peg board is the scrapbooking area which is on the other side! I'm still working on that.

Janelle- do you have a blog? You can see more quilts on ragtoporiginals.blogspot.com if you really want! Thanks for the compliment.

You are so crafty! I am amazed at all the stuff you put together to make look so great! I wish I had a small part of that ability. Thanks for giving inspiration!

Beth, yes, I do have a blog. janellemiller@blogspot.com
I don't update it as much as I'd like to. I enjoy reading everyone else's blogs too much I think!

Yes, I've seen your quilts on your Ragtop Originals blog and I think they are just gorgeous!!! And your paper bag scrapbook REALLY intrigues me. You'll have to explain how you did that one, probably step by step for the ignorant ones like me! Again, you are so creative and talented and where you get the time to do any of it I have NO idea!!! I'm glad you take the time to though! =)
