The 7th and 8th grade girls spent the night at our house and we made some "cool" handbags out of placemats! They had a great time and were actually all asleep by 2:30 a.m!

They each brought about $5 and we went to Walmart and they picked out a placemat and ribbon and buttons or whatever they wanted and I just sewed 2 side seams in them and added handles. They had fun and the bags were cute!
that is too fun! i remember the good ole days of having sleep overs with my teens - maybe again sometime - i don't know if i could stay up that late :)
Erin- 2 side seams and wile the bag is inside out make a little seam across both corners to make a bottom to the bag (does that make sense?) Next just sew ribbon or whatever along the inside top of the bag to make two handles. Maybe I'll post a close-up.
