The highchair project

This is an old highchair I found at a yard sale for $1.00. I was so excited to find it! It was in rough condition and was missing the tray. Perfect! I had been looking for an old "high" chair for Ella to be able to sit right at the table with us. Since the tray was missing I took off the hardware on the side arms that hold the tray and chopped off a few inches of the arms so it would sit closer to the table. I had to sand the whole thing down pretty good and clean it. Then I painted it black with a distressed finish to match our table and other chairs. Ella LOVES her big chair at the table!

You did a great job! I love it that it looks like grown up furniture. I get tired of 'kiddie clutter'. :)

BTW- email Janelle at jovialgiant@hotmail.com for access to her blog.

Erin- I can't believe you're blogging with an infant! YOU win the prize! I PROMISE life gets a lot easier with two kids. It's just like normal after a few months-- actually after all the nursing every 3 hours 24/7 for weeks and weeks!!!! I'm NOT looking forward to all that again. :(

Alright Carol Fern. . . Beth that is exactly what grandma would have done. The project looks great and I am sure you had a blast doing that. Maybe it will be in the family as long as grandma Donna's wooden chair:)
Love Ya,
Big Bro

did you paint the dining room set too? I have the same table and chairs, but haven't done anything with them. (still a very depressing shade of wood-grain). Need to know if you had to sand down the table and chairs or if you just used a primer.

I LOVE spray paint Leah! I spray paint everything black right now. And if I don't spray paint it black, I paint it red! So, to answer your question, I did not paint the table, but I found the chairs at both yard sales and thrift stores and just spray painted them all. A grand total of $11.00!
